Swap Bitmap allows you to swap out a bitmap on the stage with any otherimported bitmap in the document. However, this will probably increase the file size and bog down animation playback. If you want the graphic to look more accurate, choose Many Corners, with lower Color Threshold and Minimum Area values (see Figure 3.37). If Many Corners is selected, many of the corners inthe image will be preserved. If Few Corners is chosen, corners will besmoothed out in the image. In this drop-down menu, choose either Man圜orners, Few Corners, or Normal. This option determines how smoothly the vector linesare drawn after the trace has been performed.Ĭorner Threshold. You can set a value between 1 and1000.Ĭurve Fit. This option's value determines how many pixelsto evaluate when setting the color of a pixel. You can set the Color Thresholdvalue between 1 and 500. If the RGBcolor values between the two pixels are less than the Color Threshold value,these color values will be considered the same. If you have the bitmap selected on the stage, select Modify, Trace Bitmap. If you do, Flash will only recognize it as a primitive and not as a bitmap. It's important not to break apart the bitmap. It's also an advantage if you plan to animate the graphic and have it scale up. ![]() This can save file size, if the bitmap doesn't have a great deal of detail. Now you have the option of transforming the fill using the Transform Filltool.Īnother great feature of Flash MX is the ability to turn your bitmap graphics into vectors. Notice that the fill swatch has a small icon representing thebitmap.Ĭhoose the Rectangle tool and draw a square on the stage. With a bitmap graphic selected, choose Modify, Break Apart.Notice that the bitmap now looks more like a primitive object.Ĭhoose the Eyedropper tool in the Tools panel, and click on thegraphic. Here are the steps to follow to break apart a bitmap and use it as a fillcolor: Alternatively, select any other tool from the toolbar and then select the eyedropper tool again.Breaking Apart a Bitmap and Using It As a FillColor To reload the eyedropper tool with a different style, hold ALT and click on the text with the style you want to copy. You can now click on any other text you want to apply the copied style to.Ħ. The eyedropper tool will keep the copied style. Click on the text you want to apply the copied style to.ĥ. The eyedropper tool icon will change to indicate it has copied the style.Ĥ. In the example images, right, we will copy the Heading 2 style and apply it to the Heading 1 text (in step 4).ģ. The key difference between the two methods is that you do not need to know the name of the text style you want to apply when using the Eyedropper tool – you just need to click the style you want to use.ġ. It can be used instead of the Styles panel when formatting text. The Eyedropper tool allows you to click some text to copy its style and then apply that style to some text with a different style.
